The Flowery Prada Plastic Daisy Sandals fit for a Flower Child

During the Spring 2017 season, Prada unveiled a collection filled with white, pink and yellow plastic daisies on sandals, slides and even heels. The items seemed fun, and somewhat of a shoutout to the carefree seventies flower child. But, playful as they were and perfect for beach season, the innocent looking daisies did seem a little cartoonish.

I don’t think they ever really caught on.

Street Style: Blondes, Blazing Hair & Blonde Dreads

Do blondes have more fun? Because, these ladies on the side walk during a snow storm in NYC look like they are. Especially, our cover girl whipping her hair into a blazing inferno, or rather attempting to tame it into submission.

A blonde dreadlock would and could evince a grimace from many, and justifiably given recent judicial decisions that allow employers to discriminate against women who have dreadlocks. But, this French girl was so cool with it, I bet she got a pass – from…???

The Elegant Drapery of Valentino for Fall 2018 at PFW

How do you dress a flower? That must have been the question on Valentino’s creative designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, as he pondered the concept for his heroic Fall 2018 collection.

Showed during Paris Fashion Week, Valentino went for elegant drapery over his feminine muse, and wrapped her like a newly crowned prima donna.

The looks from the collection were draped from head to toe in flowing gowns, some with lots of scalloped hemlines. Pierpaolo then chose to use color, particularly red and white, to communicate the passion and desire that belie the serene and at times quite regal looks. And, he used lots of solid colors.

Standing out even further were the monochromatic white and black full length gowns, which seemed to hacken to a more conservative era, particularly borrowing from the era of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice of shoulderless full length gowns, as well as the maxies and boubous of the seventies.

It’s all elegance re-imagined for the 21st century, in Valentino’s Fall 2018 collection.

The Butterflies & Warriors of The Alexander McQueen FW2018 Collection

Alexander McQueen creative directors over the years have shown an uncanny understanding of how to wrap fabric around a woman, colorfully, beautifully, and lavishly without being garish.

For the Fall/Winter 2018 collection from Paris Fashion Week, creative director Sarah Burton, who has been with the fashion house since 1996, showed a variety of styles that seemed to be transitional or in a state of metamorphosis. She seemed to take inspiration from the role women increasingly play in today’s society, where they have to be transitional from the home to the office to the boardroom and back to the home.

I feel the looks from the FW2018 can be characterized into three broad categories: the butterfly, the formal, and the warrior looks.

The most captivating were the butterfly looks, largely designed around pink hues and flowing fabrics. The warrior looks bring to mind the essence of the Dora Milaje of Wakanda in the Black Panther movie.

Meanwhile Liya Kedebe totally killed it with a look that seemed a hybrid of the butterfly and warrior looks.

Who Else Was At Christian Dior Fall-Winter 2018 Runway Show

Aside from Cara Delevingne who blanketed the blogs and news sites with her bold yet stylish androgynous look, who else was at the Paris runway show for Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2018?

We had the beautiful model Winnie Harlow, the stylish Lottie Moss (fyi Kate Moss’ younger sis), the fierce Bianca Jagger, the gorgeous Dylan Penn (fyi Sean Penn’s model daughter), and quite a few others.

Inspired by the cultural and societal upheaval of the late sixties, in a direct translation to present day, Christian Dior’s creative designer Maria Grazia Chuiri has chosen a palette of bold female actualization and discontent to embody the Christian Dior Fall-Winter 2018 Collection.

In a patchwork of arrayed and varied colors, Chuiri focused on pieces that expressed her message without being over the top. Her featured pieces showcased an assertive youthfulness in blazers, boots and lots of plaid.

Cara Delevingne perfectly captured the mood of the Christian Dior Fall-Winter 2018/19 collection, which sought to highlight the beginning of the unisex trend in fashion.

Cara, who is a British actress and model, couldn’t have looked anymore like a Dior muse. It was a very disciplined look with no fuss, and the hat made the perfect accessory giving her an appealing androgenous look.

Look at her 😭😍🖤🖤🖤🖤 #caradelevingne #dior #christiandior #pfw

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, sat in front of the Taj Mahal with her hubby and 2nd in line to the British throne, Prince William, in a re-enactment of the iconic image of her late mother-in-law in a truly stunning white-colored dress embroidered with resplendent blue motif designed by Naeem Khan.

The dress by Naeem Khan hemmed just below the knee was feminine, elegant, graceful and infused with allure. And, this was only one of the many amazing designs and styles Kate Middleton used to keep many style and fashion writers busy, from April 10 to 16, as she toured India and Bhutan. According to Racked, in those seven days, Duchess Kate wore 18 different outfits. So, let’s take a quick look at some of my favorite.
